Sometimes, art direction isn’t about the location, but about the people involved. In the restaurant world, this is especially true. As many restaurants incorporate their chef into their brand, the artwork thus needs to speak to the chef’s personality as well as that of the restaurant.

For a recent NYC project, we developed an art package that relied heavily on black and white, nostalgic images, reminiscent of the chef’s European upbringing. To balance this sentimental imagery, we then incorporated modern materials—such as mirrors—to give the pieces depth and more interest.
