Farmboy Fine Arts in W Hotel Times Square
Contributing Author Brent O'Connor
Farmboy just completed one of our most exciting projects to date; furnishing contemporary artwork for all the guestrooms and suites at the W Times Square New York. Working closely with Yabu Pushelberg and Canoe Hospitality, we designed and created headboard artwork on time and on budget. The concept for the art work was “James Bond meets Dolce and Gabbana” and we feel the finished art pieces have complimented W Hotels luxurious and well appointed accommodations, all contributing to the guest experience. |

FEATURED ARTIST • The Seed Shaman
Contributing Author A. Traviss Corry

Richard Solomon is an artist who works exclusively with plant materials and is known particularly for his work with seeds and grasses. The aesthetics of his work are stunning, but beyond that surface layer of beauty, his concept is profound and elegantly simple. He takes us back to archetypes of ancient cultures who's traditions, rituals, and art, speak of the ethereal cycles of nature; birth, death, and life. By taking us back he is moving us forward into the new age as we reconnect to the natural world and want to make art like his part of our environments. "My work celebrates the reunion of people and plants."

Legend Of The Lost Tribe, Richard Solomon
I first saw Richard's work during a lecture at a University class I was taking on Art and Ecology. Later I spoke with him through Farmboy FIne Arts which represents some of Richard's work in the Collection 'Seed Shaman'. In my conversations with Richard, he told me of his departure from the high-powered corporate marketing world, into full time fine art, "I saw a clump of grass. I held it to the sky and asked how I could make my way in this world with this beauty. In my flat pressed pieces I work with patterns in have two or three layers. My sculptures are ceremonial, sacred objects. My art is a true expression of the emerging green revolution." Richard says, "I love the science and magic of the patterns you find in nature... My art explores that magic’s potential, its’ vocabulary, the stilled and fluid moments, the immediate and the infinite."
