Colleen Flynn-Lawson is a self-taught painter who lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Originally from New Jersey, Flynn-Lawson began her career as an accomplished actress, shifting her artistic endeavours to painting in 2000. Since, she has developed her signature automatist style of paintings, working intuitively and exclusively with acrylic on panel. Flynn-Lawson uses her paintings to explore the cyclical nature of life – the processes of life, decay, and transformation through rebirth.
The tactile depth of Flynn-Lawson’s paintings, with surfaces that are continually scraped, molded, and reformed, caught our eye a number of years back. Since, we have acquired her work for the Marriott Hotel Downtown, Abu Dhabi. Her work has been featured in numerous solo shows across North America, and can be found in public and private collections worldwide.
NEXT is an ongoing series of profiles of emerging and established contemporary fine artists whose work Farmboy Fine Arts has acquired, commissioned, or proposed in previous projects.
